Former Poachers Exchange Guns for a Better Way of Life

Through the large presence of producer groups, demonstration farming plots and the community trading/training depot, where farmers bring their commodities or where group leaders assemble for a training course, COMACO is visible in rural communities throughout Luangwa Valley.  Hunters wishing to join are welcomed and will find growing opportunities of new markets based on sustainable farming and land use practices.  Once they hand over their guns and abandon their former way of life of illegally killing wild animals, they become active producer group members and receive special support from COMACO with key inputs to keep them from going back to their old ways.
