Chris Chiwenda: WCS’s New Deputy Director/Chief Operations Manager

Chris Chiwenda,New Deputy Director Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) welcomes Chris Chiwenda as its new Deputy Director/Chief Operations Manager to help spearhead all programmes especially COMACO and related activities. Chris has vast experience in the business administration and marketing and previously worked for such reputable organisations as Zambian Breweries, DHL and Agriflora.

In his prior employment, Chiwenda held various portfolios at management level, such as Business Manager, Marketing Communications and Logistic Manager and Business Development Manager and earned himself top managerial and business skills. Through these high positions Chiwenda was also exposed to world languages and has a good command in spoken Danish, Swedish and Norwegian.

The ambitious and enthusiastic young man in his late 30s will be responsible for coordinating all programmes and logistics, marketing and developing continuous business plans for WCS/ COMACO and managing all operations for the organisation.

Chiwenda reveals that he will use his wide experience to implement the vision of the organisation “I will ensure that I meet the vision put in place for the COMACO programme by collaborating with all conservation trading centres,” Chiwenda revealed. He says he would want to see continued growth of the programme so that communities get the best out of it, adding that in so doing the organisation would be on the right truck in conserving wild species.

“I also help in the marketing of It’swild products and see to it that they are available on the market throughout the country,” says Chiwenda. He further notes that he will ensure that the products are of high quality fetching favorable prices to benefit the producer groups. “In so doing we will manage to completely divert the rural poor communities from depleting natural recourses because they will have enough incomes for their survival with extra incentives to help conserve biodiversity,” explains Chiwenda. He says he will also support and promote continuous environmentally friendly agricultural activities including organic farming that the project has embarked on.

With his vast experience in business and marketing, Chiwenda is just an ideal person that WCS has been looking for to help propel its ambitious COMACO programme.
