We see the effects of poverty and hunger on global resources and wonder what kind of world we will leave behind for our children and grandchildren.  Miracles will not change this, but a renewed and committed effort to make conservation work for those people most marginalized might. COMACO is such an effort and it brings many stories of a change that need telling and hopefully to the people who can take its ideas, methods and inspirations forward.  This newsletter tells these stories.

COMACO is a growing land reform movement, working mostly with farmers around Zambia’s national parks to reduce their impact on trees, soils and wildlife.  What started as an effort to protect elephants over 30 years ago has evolved into something much more.  While helping achieve elephant protection, COMACO also provides security to people’s food and income needs through market-driven alternatives to poaching, unnecessary tree cutting, wasteful loss of soils and over-fishing rivers

We need a ray of hope that shines brightly on Africa.  For Zambia, COMACO has become that ray for conservation and rural development and we wish to share it with you.  Thank you for subscribing to our COMACO Newsletter.
